Bandar Seri Begawan - Day seven of the inaugural MB Invitational Cup Softball Tournament saw a great turn round of events yesterday, as four matches were played at the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong.
A neck-to-neck match in the men's category between the top two teams - Kensei and Zombies - saw Kensei emerged as the winner, as both teams fought throughout the four innings with a result of 8-7.
Kensei will face Zombies again today at 7.30pm as both teams had qualified for the semifinals finishing first and second in the table respectively.
Banzai's hopes of breaking their losing streak was once again turned down as they lost to Skyhawks from Malaysia 5-3, bringing Skyhawks' points up to six but insufficient to qualify for the semifinals which will be held today.
Black Arrows, however, succeeded in overtaking Pirates to get the fourth spot with 10 points and 23 runs when they beat Pirates 7-3. Their victory has secured themselves a place in the semifinals, where they will be facing Wanderers at 3.30pm, who also has 10 points but with 25 total runs.
Earlier, Legends from the Philippines secured their unbeaten run with four clean sheets out of five matches 18 hen they won against Rebels from Indonesia with a score of 11-0 thus securing the top spot with 15 points, followed by Chikara with 12 points, Rebels in third with nine points and Pasadena in fourth with three points.
Rebels will go up against Pasadena in the women's semifinals which will be held at 3.30pm today, while Legends will go up against Chikara at 7.30pm. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
